[NEWS] Yang Hyun Suk plans to make 2011 2NE1’s year


2NE1 debuted three years ago, but in my eyes, they still look like rookies. I think that’s synonymous to how they haven’t had that many activities or exposure through TV. Therefore, 2NE1 still has quite a bit to show. This year will be the year to settle it all.

The above statement was made by YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk, expressing his views on 2NE1’s impending return to the music industry.

Coming back with ‘Lonely’ eight months after dropping their first studio album, 2NE1 has been sweeping Korean music charts, even scoring a perfect all-kill in major charts in May. Continue reading

[NEWS] Sneak Peak of 2NE1 preparing for their COMEBACK next month!

Sport Chosun was recently granted exclusive access into the YG Entertainment building in order get a sneak peek at 2NE1’s preparations for their comeback next month!

Their interview kicked off in the basement, where the girls stretched and synced their choreography in a rehearsal room surrounded by mirrors.  Shortly afterwards, the members laughed as they exclaimed, “Our dancing isn’t in sync, right?  It’s so different!”

CL explained, “We want to be like the other groups and sync our fingers and toes, but it doesn’t work like that on stage for us.  We just let everything go when we get up there and lend our bodies to the music.  It’s not that we do it on purpose.”

Bom added, “Even our choreographer doesn’t come up with anything until he listens to our music with us.  He comes up with ideas naturally, so our individuality fits right in.” Continue reading


Throughout 2010, the K-pop scene witnessed comebacks, singles, and album releases from almost every single K-pop idol group in the industry today. Many groups achieved great success with their digital and album sales. The end-of-year Daesang Awards revealed which artists did exceptionally well during 2010. However, exactly how much did each group sell?

GAON recently published its 2010 Top 20 Album and Digital Sales charts. Most conspicuous on the album chart were SM Entertainment artists, who dominated the top 4 positions. Another notable achievement was YG Entertainment’s G-Dragon & TOP album, which was released in December yet managed to earn the title of 2010’s 5th most sold album. The album beat out SHINee, 2NE1, 2PM, JYJ, and many other top artists.

[NEWS] Will 2NE1 and Big Bang be able to bring something new in 2011?

Will 2011 be the year the hallyu idols make a difference? With the disbandment of TVXQ, Japan was in a quiet state until the girl groups, Girls’ Generation and Kara made their debut and set the fire back into the Japanese entertainment industry. Among the hallyu groups, YG‘s male and female groups, Big Bang and 2NE1 have started their activities and have shown their confidence by saying, “We will definitely succeed on the Japanese stage.” YG’s president, Yang Hyun Seok, have commented on the activities at Japan. 

“Starting in May, for about 2 months, Big Bang will hold a Japan tour concert and they’re preparing for it. Right now, they’ve been going to Japan once a week and have been promoting a small out but starting in 2011, they’ll be more aggressive and offensive in their promotion tactics.”

Following Big Bang and 2NE1, they’re not your usual hallyu idol or your girl group because they’ve split up their promotion schedule so that they’ll be able to promote both in Japan and Korea, making their promotion techniques unique. Continue reading
