Girl group 2NE1‘s Japanese debut has been postponed indefinitely.
2NE1 was originally set to debut with their single “Go Away” on March 11th, 8PM on the Japanese program, Asahi TV’s “Music Station.” But on that afternoon, an 8.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country, resulting to station broadcasts being canceled. Continue reading
A successful K-Pop group is made up of many elements but two are absolutely essential — a leader and a maknae. We already covered the top 10 K-Pop leaders so it’s the maknae’s turn this time!
MTV K’s dictionary definition of a maknae is “the youngest member in a group.” They’re expected to have perfect skin (being the youngest and all), lots of aegyo and a lovable personality. There are those who fit that mold and then there are the rebels. You know who I’m talking about.

2NE1′s manager recalls their unfortunate event in Japan
On March 12th, 2NE1 came back to Korea. The manager who was with 2NE1 that day described the catastrophic event that occurred in Japan.
The members were getting their makeup done at the Tokyo Sibuya Hotel for a live broadcast that evening. After getting her makeup done, Dara went to another room while Minzy, Bom, and CL were still finishing their makeup. All of a sudden, the earthquake occurred. Loud alarm went off, and the building shook and the room turned to complete chaos. We stumbled and our body swayed and we could see from the outside the other buildings were shaking as well from the 31st floor window. The Culture Planning Group collaborated with a publishing company to publish the 2nd issue of ‘Pop Music SOUND’ magazine which features a survey result of ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’.
In 2007, the group has published a survey entitled, ‘Top 100 albums in Korea’. The list was made together with the press and music industry professionals. The celebrities listed in ‘Korea Pop Music Power Top 100’ was chosen based on poll, together with representatives from different institutions and media. Continue reading
